Muna wa Wanjiru asked:

Self Esteem is a word that is used numerous times by many people in the world. But the most shocking part is that an astonishing part of people don’t know the exact meaning of the word. Self esteem is related to psychology and hence the psychological field has defined self esteem as a person self appraisal and their own worth in their own minds. Self esteem consists of both belief and emotions. Self esteem is always reflected in your behavior.

Most people think that self esteem is mostly based on the confidence of the person, but a staggering amount of people don’t know that there are people that have the highest level of confidence in them but have the lowest possible amount of self confidence. The most vulnerable to the low self esteem are the onstage actors and comedians. With excellent performances on stage they may be in a very high confidence by are at their lowest in the self esteem. They may be feeling desperately insecure off stage. There are individuals that are extremely attractive on stage and be best known in the world but they find it hard to give value to themselves. The most famous example of this is Merilyn Monroe.

The people having low or no self esteem have a tendency to fall for the smallest thing said to them. A person who has very low or no self esteem feels easily hurt by the criticism he has. He cannot take the criticism in the right track and improve himself. The person feels very shy for any social appearances. The person may be very aggressive when some things are considered. Most of the victims of the low self esteem try to hide their feeling from the other and even try to avoid certain relationships for the fear of rejection and disappointment. Most of the times the victims blame themselves for the break up of any personal relationship or for practically everything that goes wrong. The person starts feeling insecure because he thinks that he is inferior that the others. They don’t not look at the good qualities that they themselves possess but tend to look to others for the appraisal of their own qualities. They don not feel that they have anything to offer anything to anybody. They try as much as possible to avoid experiences.

They tend to depend more on their luck than to work hard to achieve their goals. They tend to rejoice when others fail but don not even try to appreciate the hard work the other person has put in. these type of people fear failure. They keep on going again and again over their failures and keep despising them but don’t try to improve them.

David Marc Fishman asked:

Some people might say you are witty. When making a joke your friends seem to laugh. It seems it is something you take pleasure in doing and when people chuckle sometimes it is the ultimate prize. You believe you value comedy, and you should go to the next stage by becoming a professional comedian.

But, being a stand-up comic and comedian is a lot dissimilar than retelling a common joke and waiting for your friends to giggle. With comedy, you should be cognizant about the meeting, become knowledgeable about the stage, and write jokes that express a universal charm.

While being a comedian can be tough, on the contrary sometimes it is also worthwile. Here is some recommendations on what you should know to turn into a comedian.

Build up your personality. Think about all the popular comedians out there. Each lucrative comedian has something really critical about them. Chris Rock. Dave Chapelle. Adam Sandler. Dennis Miller. After a while you hear the names and, you can mindlessly imagine what they are, what they say, and exactly how and why you giggle.

Sometimes it is exaclty what you need to do. As a trainee, it might be a while before you find your personality. Test it in front of the public. Ask for reviews wherever possible. Refine and tweak your stage presence until you’re content with the product.

There are quite a lot of diverse kinds of comedy. Knowing what they are should help you train fittingly. Do you prefer improv comedy, standup, or would you rather emotionalize in a comedy movie or a sitcom? Here are plenty of other options, too. Once you understand what style of comedy you would like to do, you can set objectives and amplify a plan that should help you achieve them.

Attend comedy classes. You will figure out and learn, standup or any extra forms of comedy don’t come as expected. Sure, you can express the physical gift, skill of timing, etc. But, you also need help realizing the dissimilar styles of comedy and how to perfect and draw on them to your advantage.

When you go and take a comedy session, you can improve yourself and get some help from a master comedian. After learning everything the educational and the learning curve has been reduced, you will need to work together with fellow comedians and get reactions.

Put in writing and prepare your act in front of family. Attend standup amateur nights. Essentially, get as much familiarity as possible so youcan get comfortable in front of people. Practice in front of the mirror. By timing your act you can gage the amount of time you will need. Modify and correct your jokes until you get the entire act perfected. Once you complete all of this, you are content to start working in a club for payment.

Enter competitions. Entering competitions is a fantastic way of getting familiarity and to practice your routines in front of audience. When it hits it doesn’t matter if you fancy standup or improv or something other, there are comedy competitions for it. You can join amateur internet talent shows. Yes alot of these may also enforce a prize. The benefit to this, is that agents may be lurking in the public looking to spot new talent.

Julie Cudney asked:

If you want to see a comedian who can entertain both young and old fans, make sure and get Brian Regan tickets for his show near you. This funnyman has made a name for himself without a role in movies or on TV sitcoms. He is comedy, plain and simple. Some of his role models are Johnny Carson, The Smothers Brothers, Jonathan Winters and Steve Martin. His classic feel for comedy led to his observational humor, and he has a huge following despite his lack of sexual humor and obscenities.

Regan grew up in Miami and began his comedy career at a small comedy club in Ft. Lauderdale. From there he went to multiple cities throughout the country and moved to New York in 1986. He still traveled but gained experience by performing to tough New York crowds. It didn’t take him long to earn respect and he was named the K-Rock-Miller Lite Funniest Person in New York in 1988 and won $10,000. Even then, Brian Regan tickets were starting to sell out fast.

He was soon appearing on bigger stages and on TV in shows like MTV Half Hour Comedy Hour, Arsenio Hall and more. In 1995, he appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman for the first time and continues to be a regular on Letterman’s show as well as Late Night with Conan O’Brien. He was awarded the American Comedy Award for Best Comedian in 1996 and released Brian Regan Live in 1997.

He was on Comedy Central Presents in 2000, which started a longtime partnership. He released a DVD in 2004 titled I Walked on the Moon. He has his first one-hour special on Comedy Central on June 10 with Brian Regan: Standing Up. Fans can also get the DVD from that show. He is set to do another one-hour special in 2008. He has also performed with one of his brothers, Dennis Regan, in the special on Showtime called A Pair of Jokers. Other guest appearances include The Tonight Show, The Jon Stewart Show, The Today Show and The Dennis Miller Show.

This unique comedian has climbed his way to the top in the way all comedians should: by being funny. He looks at people and life in a way that can keep any audience laughing as he hilariously recounts every day events like a doctor’s appointment or living in his tiny apartment in New York. No matter how you package it, Brian Regan tickets guarantee a great night out.

Joel Owens asked:

When life gets too tough to handle, people have different ways of overriding the problems and stress brought about by mountain-high price of gasoline, traffic, annoying neighbors or pesky people at work. Commonly, people freak out, spend impulsively or go to a shrink to cope with problems. But for those who want to change the cycle, instead of pulling their hair, they just sit down and turn on the television to hear some downright funny jokes by famous comedians. In the words of Woody Allen, “life doesn’t imitate art, it imitates bad television”.

Famous comedians like Woody Allen, Dave Chappelle, Dane Cook Jones, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld and Sarah Silverman are just some of the bunch of people who have made a living (and some considerable amount of cash to boot) out of making fun of life, and well, other people. They can even make poverty, unemployment or death sound so unbelievably hilarious that you would forget that they are the causes of your misery. We can definitely say that they make the motherloads of motherloads by biting life back with a wide grin on their rich faces through their comedy jokes.

Dave Chappelle once talked about racism and being robbed in one of his shows in Comedy Central. Iironically, he garnered a lot of laughs out of making fun of the often scary and demeaning situation he was in:

“Somebody broke into my house once. This is a good time to call the police, but mm mm, nope. The house was too nice. It was a real nice house, but they’d never believe I lived in it. They’d be like ‘He’s still here!’ Whack! ‘Oh my god. Open and shut case, Johnson. I saw this once when I was a rookie. Apparently this ni**er broke in and put up pictures of his family everywhere.’ Dave! Relax! Close your buttcheeks!” -Dave Chappelle (mustsharejokes.com)

Jerry Seinfeld has been famous for playing himself in the long-running comedy (which already ended) show aptly named, Seinfeld. Now, most television actors could win an Emmy by playing any character but themselves. However, Jerry is no ordinary comedian. He won Emmy’s for talking about himself, his friends and of course, making fun of every situation in his life from the most mundane to political correctness. In one of his jokes, he was able to give a more positive view about losing:

“The Olympics is really my favorite sporting event. Although I think I have a problem with that silver medal. ‘Cause when you think about it, you win the gold-you feel good, you win the bronze-you think ‘Well, at least I got something.’ But when you win that silver it’s like ‘Congratulations, you ‘almost’ won. Of all the losers, you came in first of that group. You’re the number one loser. No one lost ahead of you!” –Jerry Seinfeld. (mustsharejokes.com)

So next time, life hands you crap, just smile, breathe, and start laughing the crap away at comedy jokes. Remember, you’re not traversing this wretched world alone. After all, these comedians can’t joke about life’s problems without having faced them themselves.

GO LAUGH!
